Corona Virus: Patients concerned that they may have Corona Virus or may have come into contact with someone who has, are advised to visit or Tel: 119.  Please DO NOT come to the Surgery or visit A&E or a Walk in Centre, STAY AT HOME and contact 119.

We are temporarily changing our access model to a telephone first clinical contact model - whereby clinicians perform a clinical triage for all appointments to gather more information about the patient problem and of course if a face to face contact is needed one is provided later that day.  Please watch this helpful video outlining how to get healthcare during the Coronavirus outbreak

Would you like your repeat prescriptions to be sent to your chosen pharmacy electronically?  This can be set up very easily just ask at the reception desk. 

Do we have your current mobile telephone number? If not please see the Receptionist who can add it to your records, then in the future we can text you an appointment reminder.

The Practice is required by the Government to inform all patients of their own Named Accountable GP.  The Named Accountable GP for all patients at Regent Medical Centre is Dr V Kaura. However you are still free to see any GP of your choice.

New Patient Registration

We are pleased to register anyone who lives within the practice area who has a postcode of NE2, NE3 or NE13 and is eligible for NHS treatment. We do not discriminate against any patients registering with us on the grounds of race, gender, social class, age, religion, sexual orientation, appearance, disability or medical condition.

When registering with the practice it is helpful if you have your medical card with you or a note of the name/address of your last doctor. Please ensure you have at least 4 weeks supply of your repeat medication from your previous GP before registering as we will not be able to issue repeat medications immediately on registering.

We now request passports or birth certificate for all patients wishing to register. This is to help combat NHS fraud. However, any person presenting with a serious condition which needs immediate attention will be seen without presenting a passport on that occasion.

All newly registered patients will be asked to complete a questionnaire and offered a health check with the practice nurse within three months of registering.

You will be registered as a patient at Regent Medical Centre rather than with an individual doctor and as such you can choose to see any doctor. However you may inform the receptionist whilst registering which partner is your preferred doctor.

Registration Forms

You will need to complete an NHS (GMS1) Registration Form for each member of your household when you register as well as a New Patient Questionnaire. Both forms are available on the above “Registering Online” tab. You will need to print a separate form for each member of your household who wishes to register as a patient with us.

New Patient Health Check

Every patient registering with the practice will be asked to complete a new patient questionnaire and have the opportunity of a new patient consultation with the practice nurse. The appointment gives you a chance to meet us, have your health checked and bring to light any on-going medical problems or important past medical history, including continuing your medication.

We will ask you about the following:

  • Your past medical history (important illnesses and operations)
  • On-going medical problems
  • Medication
  • Family history
  • You will have your blood pressure taken and your urine will be tested.

Occasionally other examinations or tests may be done if needed.
